False Confessions

It is easy to believe that one would never admit to a crime he did not commit. It is also easy to believe that all cops are good and that our justice system is fair.

The horrible reality is that cops are human, sometimes just looking to close a case and out “justice” system favors those who can afford a great defense attorney. Law enforcement is allowed to exaggerate and even make up evidence in order to obtain a confession during interrogation.

For many reasons – including mental health issues and aggressive law enforcement tactics – innocent people sometimes confess to crimes they did not commit

One man spent 17 years in prison after falsely confessing to his parent’s murder as a teenaged boy.
