Personal Development

Before I became a coach I thought personal development was for everyone BUT me.

I don’t really know why I thought personal development was for me. I don’t think I am perfect or have all the answers; to be honest, it probably had a lot to do with the desire to avoid anytime of book post graduate school.

Everyday for the past four months I have read a personal development book or listened to personal development podcast. The shift I feel personally is inexplainable, but the shift is now reflective in who I am. Friends I have had for years have commented about my shift. They have taken note of my new found vulnerability and commitment.

I think in today’s world we’re all focused on instant gratification.

No one wants to take the time to read a book cover to cover, no one wants to sit the gross feelings to understand what is happening. We all want all the information RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

Well, I am here to tell you that’s impossible. You cannot grow without work. I am talking really dirty, ugly work. You have to read to understand who you are and why you make the choices you do. You have to sit in the feelings of depression and anger to truly understand WHY you feel that way.

But, once you do…

Once you put in the work, the regardless are endless.

I am compiling a list of personal development books and podcasts to share with you all. Please feel free to share your favorites in the comments!
