Marriage

Seventh Wedding Anniversary

Happy 7th Anniversary, my love!💕
Saying yes to you is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made – tied with being Anela, Keiki, and Kamea’s fur mom.🐶😊

  • Thank you for showing me love, commitment, support, and compassion.
  • Thank you for being Anela’s (fur) dad.
  • Thank you for loving me when I didn’t want it and when I didn’t know how to love myself.
  • Thank you for making me laugh and accepting my weirdness.
  • Thank you for making me a #Dodger fan, although I’m not obsessed like you.

What a year 2020 has been, the lowest of lows and highest of highs- but I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side.

We aren’t where I wanted to be today- I was thinking of something a little more tropical for our seventh year, but Santa Monica with the girls isn’t too bad.

You’re my soulmate, best friend, + person.

I love you more today than I did seven (7) years ago.💕

🥂 to many more (anniversary) celebrations.

Every year on our wedding anniversary I like to write a little something of what I have learned from marriage.

This year was different, for a lot of us.

As many relationships struggled, we were thriving. I don’t say this to brag but to drive home the importance of picking your best friend and always taking time to have fun.

Here are a few things I learned this year being around Austin 24 hours a day, which when I type that it seems crazy but I loved it.

  • Alone time without phones– how can you connect with each other if you’re constantly connecting with people outside your marriage?
  • Time with family– this is self-explanatory.
  • Sleep– no one is nice when they are tired; let the other sleep.
  • Exercise– “Exercise gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy.”
  • Gratitude– be thankful for what you have, stop comparing.
  • Personal development– you have to grow to understand yourself and why you react the way you do at times; this will help you be a better person and partner.
  • Picking the right battles– this is always but especially during lockdowns. Sure coffee rings on the counter are less than grate but in reality is such a small issue.
  • Understanding the other’s weaknesses– by doing so it allows you to understand where the other is coming from.
  • Choosing a neutral show to binge– I mean this one is big! 🤣

I hope these help you just a little bit because for those of us in LA, we’re in this lockdown situation for a long time with our significant others.

Happy New Year, friends. Stay safe!💖
