Black Bean Veggie Burgers

With the 4th of July a few days away it’s officially grilling season. I know it is difficult to find quality burgers for my vegans and pescitarians- so here is a Black Bean Veggie Burger recipe perfect for the grill.

If you know me you know I am all about quality ingredients and simplicity (aka minimal mess to clean). These black bean veggie burgers check all the boxes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup black beans (cooked or canned), rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 cup walnut pieces
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion- chopped
  • 1/2 cup wheat gluten flour
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp browning sauce
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • Dairy free cheese (optional)
  • 4 burger buns (optional)
  • Olive oil for the pan or grill

Instructions:

  • In a food process mix the beans, walnuts, and onion until they are finely chopped.
  • Add in wheat flour, soy sauce, browning sauce, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Process until the ingredients are combine but there is still texture.
  • Shape the mixture into 4 patties, add a little more flour if it is too wet.
  • Place patties on a plate and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
    • Option to freeze.
  • Heat your grill add olive oil and place burgers- cook until brown about 4 minutes each side.
    • Option to use a pan over medium heat.
  • Serve with your favorite condiments.
